La Costa - 600 Eglinton Avenue East La Costa – 600 Eglinton Avenue East
Judging from the exterior colour scheme of this Eglinton Avenue condo, one might think it was inspired my watching to much Miami Vice! Yet another converted office building in North Toronto (and one of 3 on Eglinton between Yonge and Bayview), it is considered to be a luxury condo. Just west of Bayview, this 5-storey building houses a slim variety of condos. Units range from 700-square-foot one bedrooms up to one-plus-dens around 900 square feet. Balconies and terraces give great city or treetop views. Ceilings are 9 feet, giving a sense of space to the condos. Given that it was converted around 1995, the units can be rather dated. Condo fees are not bad, though amenities are slim, including an exercise room, party and meeting room and security system. There is no concierge.

If shopping or clubbing isn’t really your style – then why not try fitness? From boxing clubs to yoga studios, the Yonge Eglinton community has something for every sports buff – even those craving outdoor activity.

Eglinton Park, immediately behind the modern North Toronto Community Centre and Arena on Eglinton Ave. West, is the areas largest sports field park. Sport teams can also take advantage of the ball fields at the local area high schools as well as at Davisville Park, which offers both baseball and tennis. Just minutes north of Eglinton Ave. off Yonge Street is the Alexander Muir Memorial Gardens, Lawrence Park Tennis and Lawn Bowling Clubs, the Blythwood Ravine Park and Sherwood Park. Here, along the nature trails, walkers, joggers and the areas most playful dogs, can be found enjoying the surroundings.

The beautiful and historic Mt. Pleasant cemetery and the connecting Belt Line Trail, running from the cemetery to the Allen Expressway, is also a favorite for bikers, joggers and walking enthusiasts.

Look no further than this much-sought-after North Toronto community. For the most part, these properties are a mix of 2-storey semi-detached homes and classic 2-storey brick detached homes which offer the discriminating homebuyer a sense of security and belonging. Couple the classic look and feel of these homes with their vicinity to the downtown core, main thoroughfares and upscale retail areas and the result is a perfect place to live, work and play.
