Devonshire Lofts
Great location, and only nine suites
Sydnia Yu – Globe and Mail
We Care Community Living Centre Ltd. has finished building a four-storey boutique loft residence with only nine suites in the Annex.
“It’s a one of a kind… project, the location is superb, and there is no new construction in that neighbourhood,” marketing manager Helena Sedlak says.
The infill site at 473 Dupont Street near Bathurst has currently completed construction. The project, called The Devonshire, has a traditional look and feel inspired by old English manors, although there is a touch of art deco as well. It gets its name from a local street.
Located in an area where residential homes average three to 3-1/2 storeys, The Devonshire will fit in well with the surrounding streetscape. It features a creamy yellow stucco finish, and a buff brick face on the first floor.
The lofts range in size from one bedroom and a den to two bedrooms. Ceilings range from nine to 18 feet, and some units boast wall-to-wall, full-height windows. Each loft has a gas fireplace and at least one balcony.
Buyers will be given an allowance for finishes bought at various stores, including Downtown Lumber and Marbles of Portugal.
Since each loft has its own gas furnace and water tank, the monthly maintenance fee will be a modest 25 cents a square foot.
On the building’s ground level, there will be light-use commercial space, and parking is available outside.
Shops, restaurants and cafés, along with Loblaws, Christie Pits Park and the Dupont subway are located nearby. Cultural attractions include galleries, the Tarragon Theatre, Casa Loma and Spadina Historic House and Gardens.
