Earth Hour 101: Turn off the lights

Taking action on climate change is as simple as flicking off a switch – literally. Now in its third year, Earth Hour is a global lights-out phenomenon led by WWF (World Wildlife Fund) that brings together millions of people from around the world to show support for action on climate change.

Climate change is an issue that impacts everyone. So we need everyone to do their part – including individuals, businesses and governments. By participating in Earth Hour, you can send a powerful message that you are taking action for the planet, and you want others to do their part as well.

On Saturday, March 27 at 8:30 – 9:30 p.m. (local time), join people across the country and around the world and turn off your lights for one hour to help demonstrate that even small acts can add up to make a big difference.

Going green is as easy as 1-2-3:

1. Take action with the click of a mouse. Get involved with Earth Hour and join the movement at www.EarthHourCanada.org. You’ll receive regular information and updates to help shed more light on this important initiative.

2. The more the merrier. Everyone can do their part for the planet. Encourage your friends, family and workplace to take part in Earth Hour. Download promotional posters and tips at www.EarthHourCanada.org.

3. Check out what’s happening in your own backyard. There are many cities and towns, community groups, restaurants and bars that host Earth Hour events. You can find them online at www.EarthHourCanada.org.
